About Moys Food From the Streets

The street food culture of Mexico City is so unique, flavorful, and very urban, which is why we picked the Luchador mask to represent us. The Luchador is a vivid representation of the bold, energetic Mexican culture that we channel into our food. Each bite should be a flavorful, delightful kick to the tastebuds. We hope you enjoy.

About Us

Moy Yescas
The heart, soul, and spark behind authentic Latin American street food in Cedar Rapids.

Born and raised in Mexico City, Moy grew up surrounded by the vibrant energy of street vendors and food stands—experiences that ignited a lifelong passion for the bold, diverse flavors found throughout Latin America.

An entrepreneur by both nature and heritage, Moy moved to the United States in 1997 to help run family-owned restaurants in Minneapolis. Over the years, he honed his expertise in food, drink, and restaurant management across various establishments in the Twin Cities, but his love for authentic street food never faded.

In 2008, Moy relocated to Cedar Rapids and took a position in the financial sector. Yet the creative energy of the restaurant world kept calling him back—he continued working part-time in kitchens, never quite able to leave his true passion behind. In 2009, he met Angelique, a like-minded entrepreneurial spirit who shared his appetite for adventure and discovery. Together, they began dreaming of their own venture while maintaining their corporate careers.

Then came 2017: layoffs for both Moy and Angelique. Suddenly free to reimagine their path, they asked themselves what truly mattered—and the answer was clear. Moy would return to his time-honed cooking skills and business acumen to fill a gap in the Cedar Rapids food scene.

What started as a food truck quickly became a culinary journey. Moy and Angelique’s shared love of travel fuels the menu—they explore Latin America together, discovering regional specialties and traditional techniques, then bring those flavors back home to share with the Corridor. “Latin American cuisine is incredibly diverse and rich, and here in the Midwest, we only know a small part of it,” Moy explains. “Part of my goal is to introduce people to these authentic flavors and take them on an adventure through my culture and beyond.”

In 2025, that journey found a permanent home when we opened our restaurant at 4201 42nd St NE, Cedar Rapids, IA. Every dish Moy prepares is crafted with care and soul—flavors designed to transport you to bustling street corners from Mexico City to Buenos Aires, from Lima to San Salvador.

When Moy isn’t in the kitchen perfecting the menu that brings you back again and again, you’ll find him sipping mezcal, swapping stories with friends, and striking up conversations with just about anyone. Pull up a chair and stay awhile—he’s always got a story to share.

Angelique Yescas

In contrast to metropolis-raised Moy, Angelique is homegrown from the Heartland. Angelique called Monticello, IA home for most of her childhood and moved to Cedar Rapids in 2007. Angelique has preserved a love for travel and authentic food since her childhood. Angelique also worked in the financial sector for half a decade before being laid-off, but she’ll tell you it was one of the best things that’s happened to her.

“Sometimes you need a gentle, or hard, push toward your passion. When you’re pushed out of your comfort zone, you start thinking about how things can look if you pursue your ambitions.”

An entrepreneur at heart, Angelique always anticipated building a business and embraced this opportunity to jointly run a food truck. Thrilled to be using her passion for business and food, Angelique spends much of her time running marketing initiatives and social media, when she’s not at the window serving up your mouthwatering tacos.
